OVERVIEW:
This document describes how to get a REST::Resource FCGI script
running.
PREREQUISITES:
It is assumed that you have a webserver in mind. If not, you may
want to look at INSTALL.WWW-Resource-FRAMEWORK, by Ira Woodhead.
PRESUMED PATH:
For the purposes of sample configuration, the following path is
used. You will need to use an appropriate path for your
configuration.
/var/www/html/REST-Resource/eg/fcgi_server/parts.fcgi
BUILDING APACHE2:
I have a CentOS Apache 2.0.52 already installed, so I grabbed the
2.0.52 source tree so that I could build the mod_fastcgi.so. I
actually needed to install it (arrgh) to /usr/local/apache2 so
that I could extract the module after installing that.
BUILDING FASTCGI:
Once you point the Makefile.AP2 at the Apache2 sources, things go
reasonably well.
Once you get the module installed into your Apache environment and
test the restart, you should be good to go after adding the
configuration pieces below.
APACHE FASTCGI CONFIGURATION:
In httpd.conf (sometimes found in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf),
make sure this section is enabled.
LoadModule fastcgi_module modules/mod_fastcgi.so
AddHandler fastcgi-script fcg fcgi fpl
FastCgiConfig -pass-header Authorization -autoUpdate
FastCgiServer /var/www/html/REST-Resource/eg/fcgi_server/parts.fcgi
Additionally, I've put a symlink in my environment so that
/REST-Resource/ under my document root (/var/www/html/) maps to
/export/src/perl/REST-Resource/.
SAMPLE URLS:
http://localhost/REST-Resource/eg/fcgi_server/parts.fcgi
DATA SETS:
Once you have generated some parts and descriptions in a browser,
you can start trying to retrieve these parts / data simply.
