The Perl Toolchain Summit needs more sponsors. If your company depends on Perl, please support this very important event.
This file contains installation instructions for two different ports
of Perl to win32. One port is known as the 'ActivePerl' port, the
other is known as 'the GS port'.

This was written and submitted by Roland Bauer. Thanks. I have
edited them slightly.

How to install w3mir on Win95/AS-port (April 1999):
===================================================

+ get and install winzip from http://www.winzip.com/
+ get and install ActivePerl (now Build 509) from http://www.activestate.com/
+ get nmake.exe from
  ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/nmake15.exe
  (or set switch make=nmake to make=dmake in Config.pm
  and get dmake from GS port)

+ perl makefile.pl
+ nmake
+ nmake install

+ perl w3mir -h
+ perl w3mir http://xx.zz.zz/dir/

Caveats:
========

+ archive 1.0.6 from CPAN seems to be corrupted

+ &mkdir does not seem to work with dos-paths
like 'D:/DIR1/DIR2' (so it is not possible to save to another harddisk)

These win32 installation instructions were written by Paul Hsiao and
slightly edited by me. My thanks to Paul. It was current as of
22-May-1998.

WINZIP DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

    The WinZip program can be accessed from the "Start" button, if the
    program came with your system. This software can be obtained from:

                http://www.winzip.com/

    Follow the installation instructions for the WinZip software as needed.

PERL DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS

    The w3mir code will need access to version 5.003 or higher of the
    Perl interpreter and LWP library extensions in order for it to run.
    This software can be obtained from:

                ftp://sunsite.uio.no/pub/languages/perl/CPAN/ports/win32/Standard

    From this URL, select perl5.00402-bindist04-bc.tar.gz and download
    to your PC into a folder of your choice. In the folder, run WinZip
    on this file. For MS Windows 95, you need to update the registration:
    open C:\autoexec.bat and add a line

                path %path%;C:\Perl\bin;
    (C:\Perl\ is the path of the perl folder)

W3MIR DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

    You already have w3mir. Right? Unpack the .tar.gz file with
    winzip.

    Open a DOS prompt screen and go to the w3mir folder:

        cd C:\w3mir-1.0.3

    Type the install command for w3mir:

        perl.exe Makefile.PL
        make
        make install

    To test w3mir, type:

    perl w3mir -h

    If the screen displays all options (about 25 options), then
    w3mir is installed correctly.
