<h2>Interactive Graph Editor</h2>

<h3>Overview</h3>
</a>

<p>
The traditional way to "edit" graphs is by describing them in one of the existing
graph languages, then using a commandline tool to layout and render them.
<br>
The wiki interface improves on that that the rendering can be done by mouseclicks,
making command line access or knowledge not necessary.
Likewise, the <a href="http://bloodgate.com/graph-demo/">old interface</a>
made convertig the text to different formats easier.
</p>

<p>
However, in all cases the user still faces two problems:
</p>

<ul>
  <li>The syntax of the graph language, no matter how easy it is, must still be learned
      and obeyed
  <li>Describing visual features like shapes or colors in a text format is very cumbersome
      and error prone
</ul>

<p>
To overcome these problems, a new, interactive AJAX interface was developed:
</p>

<p style="border: 1px dashed #808080; padding: 1em; background: #ffffff; text-align: center; fontsize: 120%">
<b><a href="http://bloodgate.com/graph-easy/">Interactive Graph Editor</a></b>
</p>

<a name="todo">
<h3>TODO</h3>
</a>

<p>
The following things do not yet work:
</p>

<ul>
  <li><b>Most of the interface is not yet implemented</b></li>
  <li>May not work in Internet Explorer 6.x</li>
  <li>Opera 9.22 garbles the toolbar buttons a little</li>
  <li>Caching is not implemented</li>
  <li>We need a way to convert the graph to the internal structure for the JS, so the
      client can rendr a laid out graph without server help. This will enable client-side
      zoom and selecting of nodes/edges/subgraphs etc.</li>
  <li>The windows (help, new node etc):</li>
  <ul>
    <li>are not brought to the foreground when they are created or single-clicked</li>
    <li>are not shaded when in the background</li>
  </ul>
</ul>
