=head1 DETAILS
This Perl script is a re-implementation of the RSX-11 utility F<cvt>,
which converted data among various radices.
The data to be converted are passed as arguments of the following form:
&xxxx represents a hexadecimal number
%xxx represents RAD50 characters
"cc represents ASCII characters
nnnnn. represents a decimal number (note the trailing
decimal point)
nnnnn represents an octal number.
Users should be aware that the above specifications may well contain
characters that your shell interprets as metacharacters.
