TODO -- the TODO list for this project

Todo (laundry list) ^

You can read this file better with perldoc TODO.

Shortterm:

* sort cases by number of jobs is borken

* sorted_job_list() could be a generic routine in Dicop::Base, since it is replicated by Dicop::Scanner

* generalize h1 name in templates

* event notifications (_send_event()) should be done outside the client handling loop to avoid stalls

* server should not send the same message 101 to the client twice (e.g. gather all files first, send then only unique names) (While the client ignores the dupes, it creates quite a lot of rendundand output for debug sessions)

* cache inlined JDFs/CDFs (sending them only once would already reduce the resource footprint)

* find out why the server is so "slow" handing out work

* sub-arch specific overrides must be listed in extra-files: this should be automatic so that you can just place "worker/linux/i386/test" and it will automatically override "worker/linux/test" Thus it is not yet possible to override "all:" with sub-archs, e.g. "all/foo" is always delivered, instead of "all/i386/foo"

* BUG: it is no longer possible to select files with "_" in the name after you have hit "Reload" on the file selector page.

* generalize "charset_description" (aka fake keys) support in Item/Template

* add tests for testcases with msg 112/111

* SSL support currently has bugs/problems

* dirs without proper permission cause an unknown error instead of "permission denied" when selecting files

* disallow entering ##.*## into entry fields - these would be expanded as templates in the HTML output which leaves wierd effects (and potential security concerns). Allow only ##rank## and ##description## for compatibility reasons?

* Testcase CDFs (but not JDFs) are stored under the same name than job files when a testcase has the same ID as a job. That will be only a problem if a client get's tests and real work at the same time, however.

* fix all XXX TODO occurances (duh!)

* encode()/decode() get really slow for large amounts of data (inline files are 4.5 times faster for 8 bytes with one special char than disk files, but 10 times slower for 800 bytes with 100 special chars. Real life example is 10 special chars in a 200 byte file...)

* better honour log levels when printing debug output

* Server can remove CDF files after the chunk is finished Also, the JDF should at least be deleted when a job is closed/deleted/finished. (small CDF/JDF should not be created as files, but if they are, they will linger needless around)

* insert more help on adding character sets

* dictionary file selector in adding a dictionary charset does look funky when no dictionaries are available dito for adding a client when no group is defined. Add error cases for these special occurances.

* add a "browse" setting to Templates so that we can specify the start path for the browse button

* add a flag target_extracted to Job, and set it to true if the target extraction script did run successfully. Then do not run the script again - prevent double extraction in case the script returns a filename (instead of a hash). Remove the "dont run script if filename ends in .tgt"

* when editing a chunk, the wrong status is pre-selected (mismatch been valid and current status value?)

* extra fields are not mandatory (e.g. ne '') when they appear on the edit form (because they must be optional when not needed)

* when changing the extraparams for a jobtype (like removing one), the field in the jobs/testcases will still be set. Likewise when adding some, older jobs/testcase do not automatically get the extra params.

* make a more convient way to enter extra files in jobtype: extra boxes for each arch? how many? or an edittext field, which gets "\n" stripped afterwards?

* implement construct_field() in Template.pm for objects like Math::String etc

* add cmd_list;type_foo - get listing of objects in a text format (xml?) (for File::Scanner)

* add tasklist to jobs

* add a list of all results for a job on the job status page (redesign job status page):

        tasklist        -> chunklist
        checklist

* make it possible to support "##name##" etc in the HTML title in def/requests.def

* add a way to reset all chunks of one job (plus verify list) in one go

MAYBE:

* add cmd_file;name_foo - get file from ./web subdir (icons, css etc for web access)
