smsdump is a small utility written in Perl. It is shipped with and makes use of Palm::SMS(3) Perl module in order to provide an easy and quick way to extract your SMS messages out of a Palm PDB database file and convert them to a human readable format. The PDB format understood is that of Perl::SMS(3)'s.
smsdump output format can be chosen via switch --type among several possibilities enlisted below.
This is the default format. It writes the SMS messages as plain text.
This format is meant for further processing of your messages when you can not or do not want to use Perl and Palm::SMS.
Each line of the output represents a message from the input PDB file.
A line consists of a NULL (e.g.,
\0) separated list of values where new lines (e.g.,
\n) and backslashes (e.g.,
\) have been escaped with two plain characters,
\n and \\ rispectively.
