(Bugfix) Rename the internal C functions because they conflict with functions from stdlib.h in some versions of gcc. Fixes RT#86838 ++$SISYPHUS
(Documentation) Note that test suite will not pass when run via `forkprove`.

perl -MCPAN -e shell
